AS I was saying or going to say...what all my friends have in
common is that they are Origami figures!

What is it Tweety ?

Origami is the ancient art of paper folding. The word is Japanese
(literally meaning "folding paper") 'to fold =oru' and 'paper=kami'.
The goal of this art is to create a shapes using geometric folds and
crease patterns. In fact, Origami refers to all types of paper
folding, even those of non-Chinese origin.

Origami originated in China, where it was called "Zhe Zhi". Since the
invention of paper is credited to Ts'ai Lun of China in A.D. 105,
paper folding must have been invented soon after. In the late sixth
century paper was introduced by Buddhist monks to Japan and, of
course, paper folding was also introduced.

Origami was mostly a traditional art for the amusement of children
in Japan until Akira Yoshizawa spurred a renaissance of the art
form. His new advancements included wet-folding and the
Yoshizawa-Randlett system of diagramming. There are so many
forms of origami now it would take a century to explain them all. In
other words, Origami is very....very popular!

The most popular designs are the crane, the fortune teller, and
the paper cup. Some people fold miniature origami models as a
challenge
