COMMANDER ZORRO
Imhotep,was the first documented
engineer, who built the famous
stepped pyramid of King Djoser,
located at Saqqarah.
Did you know that Imhotep, who's name means "the one
that comes in peace". existed as a mythological figure in
the minds of most scholars?

DO YOU KNOW WHO COINED THE PHRASE...
"EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY FOR TOMORROW WE SHALL DIE"?

I searched all over but only the sands of
time replied.............
But what they told me!
IMHOTEP!
But he was much more then just a poet or philospher with a
great sense of humor who always urged contentment and
cheerfulness......
Now that's alot of titles...try writing that after your name!
Egyptologists had doubted that Imhotep had been a real
person- they found it rather difficult to believe the various
accomplishments credited to him in the accounts written over
a thousand years after he was supposed to have lived!
At times, Imhotep has been termed the "Leonardo da Vinci"
of ancient Egypt, but in fact he was more than that. Da
Vinci gained the reputation of a genius- Imhotep was
eventually elevated to the status of a god!
When excavations were carried out at the Step Pyramid at
Sakkara, fragments of a statue of pharaohDjoser were
found.The base was inscribed
with the names of Djoser and of.....
In fact,in Egypt's long list of "gods", very few were ever
once living among them. Imhotep was!
Manetho,an Egyptian historian and priest from Sebennytos,
wrote:
"during his [Djoser of the 3rd Dynasty] reign
lived Imouthes [i.e. Imhotep], who,
because of his medical skill, has the reputation of
Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine, among the Egyptians,
and who was the inventor of the art of building with hewn
stone."
Well... it was this statement that caused the specialists to
doubt the existence of a real man named Imhotep.
But in 1926, the question was settled once and for all-
Imhotep was a real man!
"Imhotep",
"Chancellor of the King of Lower Egypt,
Chief under the King,
Administrator of the Great Palace,
Hereditary Lord,
High Priest of Heliopolis,
Imhotep the Builder,
the Sculptor, the Maker of Stone Vases...".
Can you guess? That's right it was.....

Memphis where people came from everywhere to seek cures
from Imhotep.
Imhotep is associated with the

fell from heaven and landed near Memphis. According to
the legend, Imhotep and Ptah joined their divine forces to
build the temple.
He was the patron spirit of the later scribes, to whom they
regularly poured out a libation from the water-
jug of their writing outfit, before beginning their work."
A papyrus called the Edwin Smith Papyrus,
named after it's discoverer, contains
anatomical observations, ailments, and cures. The surviving
papyrus was probably written around 1700 BC but may be a
copy of texts a thousand years older.
author of a medical treatise remarkable for being devoid of
magical thinking!
They would pray to him, make offerings, and then spend
the night in this sanctuary, which was a sort of Lourdes of
ancient Egypt. While sleeping, the god Imhotep was said to
come to people in their dreams and cure them.

Imhotep could have been no ordinary man, because he was
a genius in so many fields. In fact, he taught the Egyptians
the picture alphabet that was deciphered 4500 years later !
The Sands of Time....have much more to tell,
but
that will wait for another day !
I could go on...and on....and on......because...
Just remember, Imhotep was a real person...continue
exploring his achievements...that's what Time Travellers do!
I think I'll stay awhile and enjoy all this royal luxury...
it's my kind of place...cat worship and the like..
When you see the rest of the crew...
just let them know I'm still kattin' around in ancient Egypt!
